I do like the 2P better because of the space but this one has it's place on some trips. At first I was going to return the tent because of it's size but after spending more time in it I like it more and I think I'll keep it for some trips. I have gotten a cramp or two folding up my legs to sit up and put my shoes on before exiting the tent. I did find out the bottom is pretty close to waterproof since I watched water run under my tent and the inside of the inner was just damp when I packed up for the day. With the tent at that height I got splashed 18" up the mesh and had to put away some of my gear, get dressed and lay on my air mattress until the rain slowed enough to pack up everything. The rain we got was thunderstorms with several downpours. I had set the tent up higher for ventilation (about 4 inches off the ground) because the daytime temps were high and I expected some rain that night. I had a problem with severe splash back during a rainstorm. I do have room for some gear in one end so I find I can keep what I need inside the tent at night. Thankfully I am a side sleeper and this isn't an issue while I sleep. I use a 25" pad and if I lay on my back my shoulders touch the mesh and a few mosquitoes have bitten me while I lay reading at night. I am a bigger guy (5'11", 270 lbs.) so this tent is much smaller for me than the 2P. I have about 7 nights in this tent and have discovered a few things. A few changes I like from the original: the magnetic toggles, the black bottom on the inner, the clips at the bottom of the door zipper and the small footprint (not that I have needed it so far). I bought a 1P because I had never had a one person tent and to save some weight for longer backpacking trips. I bought a Xmid-2 from Drop and it is a great tent.
